Culture of Tibet

       INTRODUCTION:-
        Tibet  is  located  at  the  south-west  of  china,  with  the  borders  of  India, Nepal, Butan  and  Burma. Tibet  has  amazing  combination of  sceneries  at  mountains, plains, valleys  and  foothills.  In  terms  of  land  mass  Tibet  would  be  the  world's  10th  largest  nation.

       LANGUAGES  OF  TIBET:-

        The  language  used  in  Tibet  is  Tibetan. English  is  also  used  for  tourism  business and                  professional  purposes. In  the  Nepal- Tibet  border  area, Bhutan  and  in  sikkim  most  of  the          people  speaks  Tibetan.

      FESTIVALS  CELEBRATED  IN  TIBET:-

• TIBETAN  NEW  YEAR:-  It  is  known  as  "Losar"  and  it  is  celebrated   from  1st  to  3rd day  of   first  Tibetan  month.

• MONLAM:-  It  is  the  great  prayer  festival, which  falls  on  4th -11th  day  of  the  first  Tibetan  month. It  is  the  grandest  religious  event  celebrated  in  that  area. It  was  established  in  1049  by  Tsong  Khapa, the  founder  of  Dalai lama  and  Panchem  Lama's  order.

• BUTTER  LAMP  FESTIVAL:- It  is  known  as  "Chunga  Cheopa"  in  local  language. It  falls  on  the  15th  day  of  firts  Tibetan  month.

• SHOTON  FESTIVAL:-  Which  is  known  as  Yoghurt  Festival. It  is  celebrated  on         30th day  of  the  6th Tibetan  month.

     TRADITIONAL  WEAR  OF  TIBET:-

               



        DINING  ETIQUETTE:-

• Tibetans  have  a  unique  set  of  etiquette  when  eating  at  outside.
• while  eating  people  prefer  to  eat  and  drink  quietly.
• Should  not  eat  too  much  in  one  bite.
• It  is  considered  as  offensive  when  eating  food  with  mouth  open.
• While  eating  traditional  food  like  Tsampa, people  uses  only  right  hand.
• The  food  in  Tibet  will  be  served  with  bamboo  chopsticks   .
• For  religious  reasons  Tibetan  people  do not  eat  fish.
  
  TEMPLE  ETIQUETTE:-  

• While  entering  into  a  Temple, people  should  cover  their  arms  and  legs  and  they  should  remove  their  hats.
• Going  into  the  Temple  by  wearing  shorts  and  skirts  is  considered  as  disrespectful  manners.
• Nobody  is  allowed  to  take  photographs inside  the  temple.
• In  some  places  they  allow  to  take  photographs  by  taking  small  amount  of  fee  and  we  should  use  flash  while  taking  photographs.
• When  a  person  is  in  prayer, we  should  not  walk  in  front  of  him.
